Ideally I'd prefer around 4 to 6 weeks notice in advance of the presentation date to make sure everything is sorted in advance and that your presentation is almost perfect for what you want me to deliver. However, we live in a fast-paced world with last-minute cancellations and drop-outs, so I'm always happy to fill in at short notice too. If the gig involves significant travel, then a couple of months notice is always useful to help plan the logistics as well. I work full-time in a school currently so I also like to give them as much notice as possible of any occasions that I'm likely to be away.
Are there any times of year that you're not going to be available to present or speak?
As a general rule, no there isn't. As I work full-time in a school, I get all the usual school holidays and half-terms off, so if anything I am more available at those times than I usually am. There may be occasions where I am away with my family, on holiday or just taking time out, but these can always be worked around accordingly. If you need me for a certain date, just let me know and I'll check my calendar.
Do you have a speaking fee?
Yes, I am usually paid to speak, but we can talk about what that looks like when we know what you need. I also usually only travel if expenses and accommodation costs are covered, but again these are flexible.
