Matt is fast becoming recognised as a new leader within the business social media community.
Since launching his own consultancy business in 2013 he has already been named in the UK's Top 50 Most Powerful Social Media Influencers by City AM, London's daily business and finance newspaper. He also features in the top ten of Market Me's Top 500 UK Social Media Marketing Agencies and again in the top ten of The Directors Centre's Top 50 UK Social Media Agencies. Online engagement measurement company Klout features Matt in the Top 1% of Global Social Media Experts and in the Top 1% of Global Growth Hacking Experts. Matt began his social media career in account management, creating online presences for FTSE 100 companies and managing the social channels of global brands. He managed the complete end-to-end process from establishing brand vision, company goals, core values and developing strategy to creating content, campaigns, brand guidelines and managing customer service teams online for dozens of companies both in the UK and around the world. Under the nickname of 'Socially-M', gained from how Matt signs off his emails, he built a solid reputation as a reliable and effective one man social media agency, helping his clients achieve greater results.
His wealth of experience has also seen him become an educator and speaker. Whilst coaching executives on their personal channels, brand practice and business use of social media, he has been a faculty member of the PopUp Business School, working around the UK to help people start businesses and use social media to compete with larger businesses. During that time he has spoken at the prestigious Henley Business School, Microsoft's UK Campus, Queen Mary's College and numerous other educational institutions and business seminars, sharing his social media experiences, ideas and knowledge. Thanks to his laid-back, friendly and familiar delivery style, his approachability and his passion for social media, he has been invited to talk all over the UK in Europe and Africa. He's come a long way since his first speech on social media in 2014.
As an author, Matt has written extensively on the subject of social media for business, the psychology of social media and best practice in the industry. He started off guest-blogging and ghost writing for Hootsuite, The Chartered Institute for Public Relations, Paperhat FTP and several other London marketing agencies. His work has also been published in white papers and other educational training material around the world. Matt is currently working on his first book and is hoping to publish in early 2018.
In addition to writing, Matt has also been interviewed on UK radio and television, as well as regularly being a guest on Tweetchats and Livestreams for various business and social media groups. Most recently, he has been a sessional host of the EngagORS group, RubhuSocial and SocialPowWow communities.
